There is no way to explain the feeling of watching a student you trained take to the sky for the first time. Becoming a flight instructor will also enable you to consolidate theoretical flight knowledge with practical experience so you can work towards achieving the next step in your exciting avionics career.

RA Flight Instructor Rating Process

The theory sessions are designed to teach you the principles and methods of instruction including instructional techniques, effective communication skills and teaching methods. You will also be taught how to provide pre-flight briefings, plan lessons and conduct a productive lesson period.

You will conduct 20 hours of flight training as part of the course. You need to demonstrate that you are able to analyse student responses and determine corrective measures when necessary. You will also need to satisfactorily complete air manoeuvres as well as conduct pre-flight briefings and post-flight debriefings.

In the theory exam, you will need to deliver a ground component debriefing and demonstrate sound understanding of aeronautical knowledge subjects. This includes demonstrating a clear understanding of the theoretical aspects of lesson topics and providing accurate explanations.

After ongoing instruction and practice, you will be ready to be put forward for your Flight Instructor Rating flight test. If you meet the appropriate standard, you will be granted your RA Flight Instructor Rating will be granted on completion of the flight test.
