Earn 3 multi-engine and instrument flying qualifications in 1 course
An Instrument Rating is a must-have for any aspiring pilot seriously considering a successful career in aviation, and is
a compulsory requirement for many career pathways including becoming an airline pilot. The AVI50519 Diploma of Aviation (Instrument Rating) course combines both multi-engine and instrument flight training, making it a highly valuable course for professional pilots.
The course first covers CASA Multi-Engine Class Rating syllabus, teaching you how to operate a multi-engine aircraft, before moving on to the instrument flight training components. You’ll begin instrument training in our state-of-the-art full cockpit ALSIM AL42 Diamond DA42 flight simulator, which features a Garmin G1000 avionics system, before moving on to practical instrument flying exercises in single and then multi-engine aircraft.

Mastering your instruments and obtaining an Instrument Rating will allow you to act as Pilot In Command (PIC) for departure, flight, and arrival without visual reference or in marginal weather and light conditions under Instrument Flight Rules (IFR). Being able to fly regardless of conditions greatly increases your pilot career options. Upon completion of this course, you will receive both a Multi-Engine Class Rating and a Multi-Engine Command Instrument Rating, as well as your Diploma of Aviation (Instrument Rating) qualification.
Instrument Rating training takes a minimum of 40 hours, which includes 20 hours of flight simulator training and 20 hours of practical flight training. During the course you will be taught and assessed in navigation aid tracking, instrument approaches, emergency procedures, take-off procedures and landing procedures. To be able to commence this course, you must already hold a Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL).

Visa processing update - 24/11/2021
Due to the Australian border reopening to eligible temporary visa holders from 15 December 2021, the Department of Home Affairs is expecting an increase in visa applications.
We encourage you to provide the Department of Home Affairs with complete Student visa applications. To check the requirements, students can use the Document Checklist Tool.
A complete application will enable quicker processing and reduce backlogs, particularly during peak processing periods. Incomplete applications can also cause validity issues resulting in students not receiving their Bridging Visas, and in some circumstances, causing students to become unlawful.
Please do the followings:
Complete health examinations, English language tests, and biometrics collection as soon as possible;
Provide evidence of health insurance up to the appropriate date;
Check application and update if any of the details have changed;
If a student has changed their CoE since they applied, they will need to attach the new CoE to the application via ImmiAccount as soon as possible.
It is important that education providers provide students with CoEs as early as possible so that Students can lodge their applications as early as possible, thus helping to avoid high numbers of visa applications in mid-March.
Please contact [email protected] if you have any questions.
